ALAS!!! .. installation aborted during the 3rd CD.. so i just have practically no OS on my Thinkpad...

Pencil and Charcoal

My stint with Charcoal as a drawing medium was quite 'adventurous'.

I found that, if not taken proper care of, your drawing just fades away.
Its the best way to draw your sketches, as shading and highlighting is very easy. But you need to be really careful.

So, i've decided that, the present sketch book shall be used to practice Figure Drawing, which i will practice using pencil, then the shading, highlighting and enhancements will be done by charcoal.

So my experiments begins ...

I have a broken little finger ...
It was broken or 2 weeks. I never bothered to show to the doc. But yesterday my best friend told me that if u keep it for long, u might have to amputate it really scared me.

I went to the doc straight after one match of basketball. He asked me how long has it been broken and when i said its close to 2 weeks, there was a big exclamation on his face and the came "What? 2 weeks!!!"

:) .. so now my little finger and my ring finger are wound together in a small cast...

Its all fine... what surprised me was, when the cashier at the canteen where i have my breakfast asked me "what happened ???"

The saddest part is that no basketball match for 2 weeks ... :(

Today i complete 1 year at Wipro, 1 year at my first job and 1 year as a professional.

We have ordered a cake to celebrate the occasion on a small scale.
the first thing i had to do today morning was to send out invitation to every one.

Our batch was the most lively batch of new joiners i have seen so far. anything to every thing we were and are there.

It was such a great treat in life knowing so many different people and having many close to you ....

I go to this restaurant, Paramount Hotels for lunch with my friend Tina.

She orders a veg sandwich and a juice, while me, Mr. Tummy, orders prawns fried rice and chicken kebab. They serve the best prawn fried rice,i must agree!!!

So happily we were sitting there, the steward brings in the bill. Ok Rs 184/-. i place my credit card and off goes the steward. 5 minutes and he is back, apologising for the fact that they billed me Rs 18400/-... what the hell.. that is more that what i actually earn a month.

Now Tina starts laughing, so do I, the steward is confused and i ask them "No what are you going to do". Well they give options like, they will pay me in cash/ cheque, but it never occured to me to ask them to cancel that transaction. They asked me to come at 10pm. At 9pm it strikes me that cancelling the transaction is the best way and i head down to the hotel. It was too late, they had already commited the days transactions..

So here i'm totally pissed off, laughing at myself... waiting for them to refund the amount to me...

as i have mentioned earlier, telling just about success is not fair, i should also be telling about the failures. hence telling about whats happening good in my life alone is alos not fair, i have to tell the dark side too...

There is mainly two problems facing me now... the last one just got added a day before.

Its said that

people wont realize this, unless they are put through it. So when it came to a point with this girl, i told her no. She never understands. Blame me for that and what does she do, verbal assault. I cant just walk out and i just cant tell her to just f***, coz that makes no difference between me and the rest of the guys. but she keeps saying that i'm no different.

the second is, when a very casual playful conversation, turned against me. the guy was having a real bad day. he never hinted about it. only when couple of mails was send around, i realized the mistake. but the damage was done. GOD, hell with stupid morons. i had apologized for my erratic behavior, but what use, i keep getting threatening messages. This one I’m quite interested in dealing with, coz i want to see how far he is going to go.

thanks to my best budz, i'm not the person i used to be... else also i wud have done nothing.. just shrug this off... hey life comes with many attractive gifts.. just sit back and enjoy the show...coz

Being alone

Being alone and still managing things is a virtue. Atleast they dont have to go through the confusion and the tensions when being in a group.

To my utter dismay, i found that life gets more and more compliated as years go by (its a truth no denying that), but do friendship has to be polished betwen good friends. People act so stupidly serious, thinking that it adds to their superiority and dignity, FUCK.

The only group that i was ever comfortable and neednt worry about anything was at college, and that still continues. They just dont mind me waking them up at 2AM and shouting at them for no reason. Coz they know what i'm and who i'm.

Welcome to the corporate world, you talk, you laugh, but not from the heart. Can't say a thing, cant lean on anyone for support. They will ust backstab you and you will be totally fubar-ed.

SO its hing time, to lean to be alone. Learn to lick the wounds yourself coz the next doc is light years away.

There was this sketch book that 2 of my best friends, sheeju and nami had given me on the 14th of Feb, a.k.a Valentines day, 4 years back. It just had 30 pages or so.

Nami wanted me to complete the book, coz it was my habit to do pencil sketches on paper and just forget about it. I never bothered to keep my drawings.

So this day, i mean last day, i complete oem more sketch in the book. I havent drawn ever since i joined wipro. So its like almost a year since i drew anything. It was evident the way the drawing came out. Initially i spoiled by being too hard on with the grip and now it is quite dark. So i had to stuggle to keep its some where near sanity.

Hope the next one comes out quite fine...

Sometimes i look at this and feel, what the hell is this .. i cant make out anything

Ok, on that last DJ nite that we had, the DJ sucked first of all. There was this girl. The same girl we used to admire every day. She is a real angel. Till i'm sued for mentioning her name, i give out her name - Mandeep Kaur.

I went up to her and asked her, if she would like to dance with me... i had a hunch about the answer that she gave me .. well a simple NO... i walked back...

What will you do if ...

you have severely upset stomach and you are 1500mts above sea level and the nearest hotel is 5 kms down hill and you have to negotiate 36 curves which includes 8 hair-pins

.. wait there is a good news there is a rest room on to of the hill. Park your bike, throw your keys, helmet and jacket to your friend, ask him to take care of it, run past the guy asking money for using the pay-and-use restroom, run in through the open door and .. phew .. heaven. Think thats the end of the story...

Oops .. No water, no toilet paper.. oh no the worst case .. you got into a ladies toilet :( ...

We started off on a cold Sunday morning at 0600hrs, on the 1st of October... 88 kms straight ... no traffic ... great road ...

My speedometer was dead, i had no clue how fast we were going until i saw this of kannan's bike.... its 100kmph.. actually we went above that ... :( .. sorry folks but the road was really tempting.

We drove almost non stop till we saw ... finally saw this ... Yes 22 kms to Nandi Hills. The road is a driver's dream come true ... and the hill top ... is an exhilarating bliss. On way we stopped to have Karikku a.k.a Nariyal ka Pani a.k.a Tender Coconut Drink, that was my second worst mistake. The tea and the drink reacted and the result was the cataclysmic event which involved the frantic search for a restroom.

The hair-pins, the turns, the temple, the hill top every thing was simply beath taking. We didnt leave any point there un explored... including a small cave near the statue of Nandi.

For the whole hike up hill, we never took the straight road. It was the small kachcha pathways that lead into the foliage that interested us. That never ended in a loss. At the end there was something that really interested us. Even the Tipu Drop... :)

At the end of the day ... it was one trip that will stay fresh in memory for a long time ...

I used to stay in Nair Union Hostel, Thiruvananthapuram, when i was doing my B. Tech. It was for the last 18 months that i stayed there. But the memories are really fresh and its one of the best hostel memories i have ... (the fact is.. i switched 4 hostels in 4 years of engineering ...)

A room for each person., do what you feel in it, its your domain and you are the king ...

Another Loss

:( .. ohh God what is happening??? .. after my bike suffering a snapped speedometer cable and a broken idicator light.. here i'm with another loss...

Last day, while we were happily enjoying a movie .. a sudden power surge occured which topped 420Volts and burned out 2 of my mobile chargers and my ThinkPad's power adapter ....

:( .. what should i say ... it cost me Rs 2300/- just like that ... i set off yesterday itself ... Confident as usual to return back with these items and i did come back after 2 hrs of roaming and getting into 2-3 shops. It was really hard to find an open computer shop on a sunday ... left alone the fact, that i was searching for a Coputer shop dealing with laptops ... that too on a sunday evening ...

i headed off to the place i was sure to find atleast a few shopd open ... Brigade Road ... Yes that was a really good move... There i was able to purchace the adapter and i got the windows drivers for my thinkpad...

Office, Movie and Gandhigiri

Well so today, i went for a movie ... Lagey Raho Munnabhai, preaching the principle of gandhigiri

The interesting part is that, i went during office hours. Last day i finished off all my work and thought that today there might be not much work. I was terribly wrong ...
By the time i was back i have a new set of test cases for the Hardware Regression ...

But the movie is so superb, i'll be going again.. next time i'll take Jithu with me ... i want to see it again and again... the theme is so good, so inspiring ... and the bugger student leader who came up with the poster burning and controversy regarding the gandhigiri, you dick head, concentrate on your studies... this film is here to stay...

cant really compare Munnabhai MBBS and Lagey Raho Munnabhai, coz both are in a class of its own...

I've been doing some soul searching these days... especially after i had the dream on saturday night... waking up on sunday morning i realized that i've been thinking too much these days... Her face is not lost from my mind. Its the 4th time i'm dreaming about her in my life and this time the messages were quite clear.

i had to catch some breath after i had woken up... thinking of what happened in my dream... i spend the day thinking of that... later thought of leaving everything from college.. the albums, the cds, the cards everthing form my past at Jithu's place. there it will be safe... but i cant do it... its the last connection i have... i have to get over it ...

where have i reached and what am i doing ... this is never me ... i cant be so ...

so why do i keep writing into this blog, when i practically have nothing to write about.

things vary from time to time... when i stared writing here it was of pure interest and the euphoria of having a blog. later then it was the fact that i wanted to write down all what i see and couldnt digest ... but now having lost both, i find the posts pactically pointless... going no where, still i do write... WHY??? is the question.

there days there is no limit to the frustration i have. but still, you get frustrated only if u want to.. blah blah blah ...

i'm simply tired of the acting that everyday i have to put up just to be where i'm. tired of the stinking persona. things that were promised were never returned ... i too stand guilty... but reality is harsh and life is simply just...

writing here, some rubbish, and not even bothered to what it is was a relief, but when it came to the point that i just cant simply write anything here coz lives are at stake really sucks big time... cant people understand a person.. but who cares ... you got to be fucking selfish to be alive and to make it big...

so i sit in this hell hole, and bite out the frustration through the pointless verbiage and in being a vaudevillian in the theater of life ...

A Promise...

I was having this equation

1+a=b-c

i left it like that, and didnt bother to solve it. It turned out that what ever value c took, a and b promised to keep the equation balanced.

Things went on quite very well for a long time. Then there was an expected change in the behavious of c. a and b tried to make the equation balanced. a failed many a times, but b sorted that out.

c was on b's side and b promised to keep the equation safe.
"promises are meant to be broken", b was unable to do so, promises were broken.

So i'm left with an unbalanced equation, with just a by my side...

The fun of using Linux and Open Source software never ends. When every other geek is contributing towards the same purpose you get the best in everything.

There will be amazing works of art on software. Then there is the fun in making something, that is rightfully yours, you give it to the world and they appreciate the work that you have done. No problem of cracks and false serial numbers. Finally its the satisfaction that you get when something of that sort is done.

Talking about fun, look at the message at the pop-up window of “About The Gnome Panel”, this is what happens when geeks turn funny. This was brought to my notice by my friend who found it in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and I found it in RHL 9.

Working for proprietary software is bonded labor. They say you cant do that, don't do this, this is not allowed, this is illegal, blah blah blah ..

6 Month Anniversary

Today is the 6 month anniversary of my blog.

It's quite a great feeling because, with my in-born excellent and unparalleled laziness I never expected to be still posting. This started off as a past time, has now turned as the way to express myself and more or less like a personal diary. Many thanks to The Great Indian Mutiny and Jacob Joseph, the beloved brother of my good friend Tina, in inspiring me into starting a blog of my own.

And I'm still wondering how i came up with the name Autoblography of an Unknown Indian. The only thing that kept me going is my friends support for this, knowing me very well and knowing that I'm a very expressive person when it comes to matters and like to be heard.

Yes my most trusted friends Sheej, Nami and Jithu (missing u all terribly), and the newest member to the team Jijesh and Praveen (congrats for loosing your Bachelor's degree). Thanks for reading the craps that I post and for the comments for that, every time reminding me that there are people as jobless as me. And my newly made friends Stan a.k.a Stanley, for painstakingly reading every word and pointing out the typos, and Lekshmi, for pointing out the infinite possibilities of starting a blog.

A special note goes to the person for voting my blog as below average, U made me fight again.

Where does GOD fit in then... Thank a zillion My Light, in helping the world to have the patience and the heart to forgive me, else I would have had a hitman knocking at my door.

The Clash of the TITANS

Yes, After 5 years the battle has resumed again.

After I joined for my engineering course and 1 year into my job, 5 long years its has been, when finally the Titans locked horns with each other.

My Dad and me started playing Chess again. The latest visit home was really good, played a couple of matches. We both started out a bit slow, trying to gather the old cunning moves, and there we were the thrill of the game revived.

Well the game usually starts off on a silent note at around 8pm, then the fight starts, the quarrels, Mom coming in between threatening to overturn the board if we dont stop playing and show up for dinner... ahhhhhh... Yes those days are back ...

Finally finished with a script that is used to backup files that are more than 6 months old on a Linux/Unix system.

The idea was from a friend of mine at office who deals with Unix/Solaris desktop admin. I made the whole script in Linux, now have to see how it runs on Unix/Solaris.

Independence day Thoughts

Another 15^th august has come and gone, and another independence day, yet another public holiday... what are my thoughts... well it was my best friend's birthday :)

We stand on this eve of independence with threat and terror looming above us. So is this the independence that we all wanted, is this the way we wanted things around us, is this the way we are going to treat our neighbor and treated back. After the serial bomb blasts, majority of the Indians wanted India to react to the incident the same way America reacted to 9/11, and Israel against Lebanon.

Much has changed after 15^th august 1947; the society, the people's way of perceiving matters and the way things are handled have changed. We have grown from a small nation, to a nation whose voice cannot be ignored by any super power. My nation has definitely grown big. But how big?

We have grown big enough that our enemy fears for a face-off with us and breeds terror in its lands. We have become a force to reckon on with and it has reached a point that no country can do without us. That’s something to be really proud of.

We are so big that, we don't forget the values on which this great nation was built upon, how we brought an empire on its knees through nothing but absolute non-violence. The question remains should we still follow the same principles in the face of adversity that we are facing now?

We know where we are getting fired from, we know where we are attacked from still we don't take up arms to finish the trouble once and for all. We are not barbarians; we are not uncivilized to realize that any violent means to resolve the problem will only leave the two sides in great loss. Any thing that is built on the lives of innocent people won’t last long and the examples are there throughout history. There will be a time when the grenade finally explodes in the owner's hand, when the tides change and the terror is finally brought up on the terrorist.

Anger and ME

How can I control my anger and the damage thus caused by it?

When I was at college, I used to loose my temper for silly things and with much help form my best budzz, I must say that I have gained a fair amount of control over it. As always when I sit back, think of what I did, it fills me with remorse. But what is the use when already the damage has been done.

Then I had to find a way to control the uncontrolled anger, the cause and control for all the anger. The findings were quite silly for me, but they were the reasons, both medical and psychological.

Medically, I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome aka I.B.S. What to say, the doc said that for those people anger was a bonus. I still remember my mother on our second visit to the doc complaining that I used to get angry when she came with my medicines. What can he do? He asked me to practice yoga. Which I say I have been successfully unsuccessful in complying with.

Psychologically, I needed a read stress buster. I always felt like punching something. But before that where do I have the stress from. The big things never mattered much to me, it’s always the small things, and that troubled, the finest misplaced detail troubles. Then after all what is man with out troubles. For combating that, I figured the best way I could come up with, playing games, computer games in fact. That too I know is not going to help me in the long run.

With so much figured out, I feel I’m better off placed now, but … there is always a but ….

What's So Great About America?

The author is an Indian, migrated to U.S.. He has totally forgotten what and how great his home land is? While he was a child, innocent and true, he would have taken the pledge and grew with it, promising that "All Indians are My Brothers and Sisters" , forgot totally about his brothers and sisters here and has gone abroad and embraced their way of life.

I hold absolutely no prejudice against the US or its citzens, but my point is, before the author even thought of thinking of writing the book about an alien nation, he should've thought about Mother India. He has very elegantly stated that if he was here at his home, he wouldnt have achieved so much as he has now.

But let me ask him, how pure is his soul after he has left his home? How deep does he know India to disgrace it so pitifully.

We were once the epicenter, the cradle of knowledge. It is such virulent and disgraceful thoughts that has brought My Nation to its present state. Has he did any thing to alleviate the poor, the sick or the worried of this country? Has he done anything to fight the evils that feast on the very soul of this nation?

Then how can he ever be a better person some where else?

I came across the title and the words above form the movie V for Vendetta.

Following excerpt is from a comment I have read, on the movie, and one of the best I have read ...

While critics scratch their heads at questions like, "Can a terrorist be a hero?" and "How could one man do everything V does?", they miss the metaphor, and the point, of V for Vendetta. V at one point in the film says, "...ideas are bulletproof." The idea of this film is that unless the citizens of a country question their government's spin and propaganda, they will succumb to the policies of that government no matter how wrong-minded those policies may be. I'm sure it's difficult for pigeon-holing critics to accept a Wachowski Brothers script that doesn't revolve around the action sequences, but investigates the castigation of an entire society using engaging dialogue and intense, involving characters.

This film must be a nightmare realized on screen for Republicans and conservatives the world over. They would have to label all of the non-government characters as "unpatriotic", and V himself an insane terrorist. They probably don't understand that he represents every free-thinking citizen of the world who is concerned about the actions and policies of his/her government, even though this point is made several times in the film. Further, they probably don't understand that the violent actions of V and his compatriots are symbolic of everything from peaceful protests over the War in Iraq to Senator Russ Feingold's resolution to censure President Bush. On second thought, they probably do see this comparison, and believe these non-violent actions to be just as outrageous as the blowing up of government buildings! Discussions of governments gone awry aside, V for Vendetta is a rock-solid film that kept me riveted and unblinking for the entire 132 minutes.

Tle Tux had to be trade marked

Linux stands as the symbol of free software / open source . But pity is the fact that the name Linux and the logo Tux had to be trade marked.

A huge round of applause to the anon guy form Boston, who one day out of the blue registers Linux under his name. Starts sending out mails to all the corporations asking them to give him 1/4 of their revenue earnings coz they are using the name owned by him.

Finally an organization Linux International was set up and they won the case and gave the rightful owner ship to Linus Torvald. He later set up a non-profitable organization LINUX MARK INSTITUTE , to look after the issues related to the use of the logo TUX and the name Linux.

The Good Guy named Hacker

Its has become a regular news about some guy or gal breaking into some system, and stealing information and they are all universally called HACKERS.

Wrong!!! They should be branded as Crackers, rather than Hackers. There is just a thin line between a hacker and a cracker, the same way there is between the good and the evil.

Hacker these days refer to a geek, with untidy hair, shabby cloths and punching keys in front of the system, stealing some one else's information and money. No I say . A hacker is some one who has good indepth knowledge about a system , its process and its working. He plays with the system or the software. They are the major contributers to the development of better and better systems day after day.

Cracker, is all that i said above, just that he uses his knowledge to do the wrong and goes against the law.

The way we define Hackers, then Linus Torvalds, Richard M. Stallmann, Ankit Fadia, Bill Gates are all criminals and should be put behind bars and tried. Coz they are all master Hackers ...

Blame in on the media, for doing this...

Its like saying every one knowing how to fire a gun is a murderer...

The Broken 4 Pillars of Our Society

Kshatriyas, Brahmins, Vyshyas and Shudras, the four divisions of the pre-historic Indian society. Perhaps this was the most significant development at that time, having its much profound influence even today, including the present crisis and commotions on reservation.

India was a land of rich culture, rich values and people highly developed in character, emotions and thinking. The ancient architects did almost the impossible every day. The ancient medicine, ayurveda, was so highly developed that delicate operations like the one for cataract was performed. Then there is the question, why did the people, the society divide itself into strata, when they were morally well developed. Was it because, there were people hungry for power? Was it because there was some prejudice of some kind?

If I am to say NO, a big fat NO, then I should have my reasons too. For the answer we, need to go deep into the history of our nation. What India was in those days, what was the life of people at those times, how the society was at those time? Was the King a hippocrat and a ruthless dictator? Where the temples and places of education cordoned off to common man? The India that we all know comes form the history texts that we all learn as a child at school. The texts all talk about foreign wars, foreign civilizations, foreign revolutions and foreign ideas, giving very less detail into our own civilization. We are only taught about Kings like Ashoka, and the they say about Akbar as the all rounder. How many of us know that in ancient India, common people had the right to elect there king. The current history books needs to be re-written, they are the symbol of the mockery, the part of the wicked plan that the Britishers made up to break our very soul so that they could rule our land. They left, and we still preach the same old shit.

The highly developed Yoga, tells us that every one has positive and negative energies in them. That defines the efficiency and the defects in a person. Each person in the strata was highly skilled in their duties. Like the king who was efficient in safe guarding and in a efficient administration. The high priests had the ability to say hymns and do the workshiping better than anyone. The Vyshyas were skilled traders and the Shudras, they were never the under dogs of the society. They were, say, like the house keeping department at that time and they were really good in it.

The system was balanced in this structure and functioned very effectively. Even a slight mal function resulted in huge turbulences. Then along came the foreigners, their aim – own the rich wealth. What did they do for that, they just fed poison into the mind of the people. They used the divisions as the weapon and India was bleeding, and sad to say it is still.

There is the conflict of the Hindus and the rest of the religions, who claim to say that they are trying for there space in this land. But who are there Hindus? The very name was coined by Alexander when he invaded India. The people at those time never referred them selves as Hindus, but they had very highly and sophisticatedly placed values to follow in life.

But religion being the most misused word till date, became the weapon of the power hungry, the wealth hungry religious fanatics and we shamelessly fall victim to that. Neither our present government nor the governments before it did any thing towards correcting this. They all fear massive public unrests, but how long should we all suffer this. One day or the other this has change, and no other way than for the present generation to not fall victim to it. We should all embrace the truth and fight for our rights. The unworthy have no place in this holy land. And how exactly we should deal with religious and morally degrading ideas in for each one of us to ponder over....

OMEBB release finally over

Last Friday , my project release happened.
So now sitting here and making documents for training. The next release is only expected by September.

So now just checking mails, dozzing, eating etc for the next 1 week I guess...
And too lazy to even blog...
